More than just a large music venue, the project is intended to act as a catalyst,  to transform and regenerate a substantial area of the city that is currently no more than a wasteland.  Still at the concept planning stage, located in the Bristol Enterprise Zone and bordering on the Redliffe conservation area, it will include two new bridges over the Feeder, several new buildings and extensive pedestrian precincts, some intended as markets . The arena itself is intended to be completed by 2017.
