This attractive Georgian Gothic cottage was neglected and derelict in a key location next to Queen’s Parade and facing onto Brandon Hill Park.

Backing onto a steep drop and being located on a very narrow site, no project had been developed to ensure its preservation.

The Trust appointed Ferguson Mann as architects who prepared an ingenious scheme for converting the building into flats and adding a new sympathetic extension adjacent to Queen’s Parade. This provided the accommodation necessary for viability.

The scheme was implemented in 1988 and was immediately occupied and recognised as an outstanding conservation project. Consolidation of the lower slopes and derelict site was completed in 2005.
